Cuba Libre Beach Cocktail Easy To Make
Cuba Libre cocktails are perfect for sipping while on the beach. But did you know that the Cuba Libre Beach cocktail is very close to a simple rum and coke?
But is it just a rum and coke? Hmmm. Let’s find out.
This cocktail has been around over 100 years so you know it’s good. The Cuba Libre cocktail may appear to be a simple rum and coke, but there are little differences that packs a pop.
Cuba Libre means Free Cuba in Spanish. This was the battle cry for Cubans during the Spanish American war in 1898.

This drink did not come into existence though until the 1900s. The reason is that coke was not invented until that time.
It landed in the USA as the simple rum and coke. But this version is missing the third ingredient which is lime.
Now that you know the history of this popular cocktail, let’s learn how to make it.
Cuba Libre Beach Cocktail Ingredients
As promised, there are only three ingredients. They are:
2 ounces dark aged rum. I use Myers Dark Rum. The reason? I like it and it’s affordable.
3 ounces cola (Coca-Cola, Pepsi, etc. Pick your favorite)
2 lime wedges
Cuba Libre Instructions
Now that you have your ingredients out, let’s make a cocktail!
Place the lime wedges into your cocktail glass and muddle. Muddle simply means to crush or press to release the juices. You do not need a special tool; you can use anything, such as a wooden spoon, which is what I use.
Add the rum and ice; stir.
Add cola to bring to the top of your glass.
If you’d like, garnish with a lime wedge and make it fancy.
That is it! Pretty easy right? Don’t let the name of a cocktail stop you from making it at home. Most are very simple, as you can see from the cocktail recipes I share. Salute!
