Best coffee shops in St. Augustine By Landmark Or Attraction

St George Street Shopping Area

I love this part of St Augustine in the historic district of the city (Saint Augustine). Ice cream, good food and cocktails as well as delicious coffee.

Kookaburra Coffee

First on the list is Kookaburra Coffee located on Cathedral Place near the shopping district and the heart of downtown St Augustine (Kookaburra Downtown). They have another location near the Fountain of Youth.

My personal choice is always espresso drinks, so I went with a latte and it was delicious. I overheard people talking about the prices, but compared to other coffee shops including national ones, their prices are lower.

When it comes to my cup of Joe, I will spend money for a great cup of coffee and Kookaburra Coffee delivers. My number one recommendation.

St. Augustine Coffee House

St Augustine Coffee House is next on my list and located in the heart of St Augustine. Again I have never had a bad cup of coffee here either.

After living in Miami for many years, my choice here was Café Con Leche, and it did not disappoint.

Great spot when you are shopping or taking a break from the Fort across the road or from exploring near the City Gate and cemetery.

Castillo de San Marcos

Enjoying the historic fort in the nation’s oldest city but need a little pick me up?

Crucial Coffee Cafe

This cozy coffee shop, Crucial Coffee Café, is located on Charlotte Street in uptown St Augustine in a historic cabin just steps from the Castillo de San Marcos and is absolutely adorable.

It’s the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee, iced coffee, and maybe a pastry before or after exploring the fort.

Coffee lovers will enjoy the many options, but there are bubble teas on the menu here as well. Outside seating and free Wi-Fi as well.

DOS Coffee & Wine

This modern coffee shop is located on San Marco Ave in the heart of downtown St. Augustine and also near the Fort. In addition to a wide variety of coffee drinks, you can also order wine and beer.

It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. Prefer drip coffee? The Americano reminded me of the perfect cup of drip coffee.

Hungry? Delicious food options as well for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

The Kookaburra

This Australian-inspired coffee shop has two locations in St. Augustine, and this is the other one which is located near the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. As the coffee shop above near the historic district, you will find a variety of coffee drinks, as well as Aussie pies and other pastries.

Growers Alliance Café and Gift Shop

This coffee shop is also located near the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park on Anastasia Boulevard just over from the Bridge of Lions. It offers a variety of unique blend of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast and lunch items.

What I liked the most though, is that this coffee shop endorses fair trade, the coffee beans are pesticide-free free and they GIVE BACK. I

t’s the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat before exploring the park. And there is live music by local artists to enjoy while enjoying a fantastic cup of coffee.

St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum

Relampago Coffee Lab

This coffee shop is located near the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, but the roastery is located inside Dos Coffee & Wine.

It offers a variety of coffee drinks including pour over coffee which is when the beans are ground right before hot water is poured over the beans.

They also offer breakfast and lunch items. It’s the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat before exploring the museum.

NOTE: The Donut Experiment was on my list. This unique coffee shop specializes in donuts and coffee and used to be one of my favorite places. But the St. Augustine location is unfortunately closed. There is another location in Florida on Anna Maria Island.

Flagler College Area

Sweetwater Coffee Bar and Gallery

From my daughter’s first visit to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm many years ago to the annual trips back to this park, you know I had to find good coffee.

I eventually found Sweetwater Coffee Bar and Gallery on one of my last trips to the historic city.  It is near Flagler College as well.

This cute coffee shop calmed my coffee fix and was one of the best coffee spots to stop and take a break. Located on Granada Street, it offers a variety of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast and lunch items.

It’s the perfect place to grab a cup of awesome coffee and a quick bite to eat before exploring the park.

Anastasia Island

The Kookaburra, Dondanville

Another Kookaburra. If you have read the above you know they are all great coffee shops. This one is located on A1A.

Near the St. Augustine Beach

La Taza Coffee & More

Of course, you need to know where the best local coffee shops are near the beach. This coffee shop is located on A1A near St Augustine Beach.

It offers a variety of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast and lunch items. It’s the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat before heading to the beach.

Note: It was open last time I visited, but when I checked the address it was showing temporarily closed. I recommend giving them a call first.

Zaba’s

Also located on A1A in St. Augustine Beach. Not only great coffee but fantastic breakfast and lunch items. It’s the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat before heading to the beach.

This specialty coffee shop is on the small side, but there is outdoor seating. It is also located right next to beach access making it easy to grab a hot or ice brew and take it with you to relax on the beach.

Other Coffee Shops in St. Augustine

There are a few other cute coffee shops as well as the large chain with the barista drinks a coffee connoisseur loves. They are:

City Perks Coffee Co

This coffee shop is located in downtown St. Augustine on St. George Street. It offers a variety of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast and lunch items. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends.

MoCup Coffee

This coffee shop is located in downtown St. Augustine and offers a variety of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast and lunch items. It’s a great place to grab a quick cup of coffee on the go.

Witty Whisker Cat Cafe

Cats and coffee? Yes. That is what the Witty Whisker Cat Cafe is all about.  It is located near the historic district.

This is a great stop for cat lovers. You can enjoy a good cup of coffee and watch the cats in the cat lounge.

Separated from the café, you can drink your coffee and then head over to the next room to play with the cats that are available for adoption.

Starbucks

When I travel, I like to try as many local hand-crafted coffee shops as I can. This popular coffee chain is always a good backup.

There are several locations in St. Augustine. It offers a wide variety of coffee drinks including my favorite vanilla iced latte on a hot day, teas, hot chocolate, and more.

Breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and other menu items like snacks as well as always friendly staff. It’s a convenient option if you’re looking for a familiar cup of coffee or food items you know you love.

Truly, no matter where you’re staying or sightseeing in St. Augustine, you’re sure to be within easy reach of a great coffee shop. Be sure to also check a local food truck if you see one as they often have great too.

A few more tips for finding the best coffee shops in St. Augustine

One of my tried and true things to do while traveling is to ask where can I find the best coffee. I do this as well for restaurants, craft beers, cocktails, and wine. The locals will not steer you wrong.

Also, read online reviews before visiting not only a coffee shop but any restaurant or attraction. This can help you get a sense of the coffee shop’s atmosphere, coffee quality, and customer service.

So grab a cup of coffee and explore all that this historic city has to offer!
