A visit to Carrabelle Beach Florida

Carrabelle Beach Florida is one of the least crowded beaches you will find on the Gulf of Mexico.

While on a recent road trip to St. George Island, my friend and I decided to take the scenic route up U.S. 98. U.S.98 runs along the Gulf Coast. Along the way, we enjoyed glimpses of the Gulf where we eventually made our way to Carrabelle Beach Florida.

My daughter is actually the first person I made this beautiful trip with her first year in Tallahassee, so I already knew how gorgeous the drive would be. And again I was not disappointed and plan to make this trip many more times.

As you meander this beautiful back road, you’ll see glimpses of the sparkling Gulf of Mexico through the trees. A few other things you’ll see? Signs like this:

That’s right. Bear crossing signs. Black bears call many areas of Florida home, and it’s not unusual to see them as you make your way through the many state forests.

Carrabelle Beach Florida Campground

There is a campground directly across the road from Carrabelle Beach. It looks really nice and is definitely on my list of campgrounds near the beach I plan to stay at in the future.

The beach is pretty. Not overly large but I believe it’s also dog friendly as I’ve watched many a pup playing in the surf (before taking your dog to any beach, please check local regulations.)

There are picnic tables as well as restrooms and outdoor showers. Definitely a nice beach to stop at as you make your way over to Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, and St. George Islands.

While you’re in this fishing area, be sure to stop in one of the many local restaurants for lunch or dinner. Not only are the local stops delicious, they are very affordable.

The Owl Café in Apalachicola is one place I’ve visited multiple times and have never been disappointed.

Carrabelle Beach Florida is a good stop to tie in with the other smaller beaches in the area or if you are looking for a more quiet, laid back experience.

I’ll be honest. When I visit this beach it is usually along with the others I’ve mentioned including my next up beach review – St. George Island.
