How To Make A Hurricane Beach Cocktail
We are inching closer and closer to summer, and that has me ready for a Hurricane Beach Cocktail! I love these cocktails, and they are fairly easy to make at home as well.
When I first moved to South Florida MANY years ago, our new friends were telling us to wait for the upcoming hurricane parties. That is where there would be plenty of Hurricane cocktails to tide us over while waiting for the storm to go through.
Those first few years we were lucky and did not get hit with a hurricane, but you can bet I sure did enjoy a few Hurricane cocktails. Anything that transports me to the beach is at the top of my list.

Hurricane Beach Cocktail Ingredients
As always, let’s get our ingredients out and ready to make a delicious cocktail. You will need:
2 oz. Light Rum – my go to is Bacardi
2 shots or 3 oz. Dark Rum – my go to is Meyers
6 oz. Passion Fruit Juice (easier to use the juice, but you can also use Passion Fruit purée)
6 oz. Orange Juice
Splash or 2 tablespoons Grenadine (adds more red color also)
Ice
2 orange slices and 2 maraschino cherries to garnish
Optional: Simple Syrup
Hurricane Cocktail Instructions
Have all your ingredients out? Good! Let’s make a cocktail.
- Place all the ingredients except for the Grenadine in a large glass to mix.
- Add ice to your tall hurricane glass. Pour cocktail into the hurricane/tall glass. You can get your glasses here: Hurricane Glasses
- Garnish with orange slices and cherries.
- Note: If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add 0.5 oz simply syrup and mix with other ingredients. For me this makes it too sweet but adjust to your taste.
And you have just made a delicious but POTENT hurricane cocktail! My goal is to always give you simple, yet fun cocktails you will be excited to share with friends. You may enjoy the other beach cocktails made with rum below:
