Warmest Beaches In Florida In March: Chasing the Sun
As March blooms, we begin to think of Spring and the Summer days to follow. The reality? It’s still cold in much of the country. Below are the warmest beaches in Florida in March for a getaway.
Escape to Florida’s white sandy beaches, where you can listen to the waves as they roll onto the shore. Picture this: the whispering palms, the gentle rolling of the clear, blue water, and the sun as it warms your body.
But not all beaches in the Sunshine State offer the same temperatures in this transitional month. Also, some beaches are quite crowded at this time of year with Spring Break travelers.
Ready to embark on a journey to explore the warmest pockets along Florida’s coastline? I have listed them below.

Chasing the Sun: Warmest Beaches In Florida In March For A Getaway
Waiting for Spring to arrive after a particularly rough winter, seems like it takes forever. What helps? A getaway to a warm destination.
When it comes to seeking warmth in March, statistical data reveals several Florida beaches with temperatures perfect for those craving a bit of warmth.
Way back in the day when I stilled lived in Ohio, I was generally in Florida in March. Most of the state is actually quite nice at this time of year.
Below are my top picks for a Spring vacation:
South Beach, Miami
Although not MY personal top pick, I know many love the Miami vibe and the fact that this city is always on the go.
Activities: Soak up rays while strolling along Ocean Drive, explore the vibrant nightlife, and indulge in water sports like jet skiing or snorkeling. Take a road trip through the Florida Keys.
Nearest Airport: Miami International Airport (MIA)
Fort Lauderdale Beach
This is the beach and area I spent a lot of time at when I lived in South Florida. Fort Lauderdale Beach is beautiful. My sister actually found a huge conch shell while we were walking the beach. Also, nearby is my South Florida favorite beach, Hollywood Beach.
Activities: Sunbathe along the promenade, embark on a sightseeing cruise, and explore the local boutiques and dining scene. Head to nearby Pompano Beach for snorkeling.
Nearest Airport: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
Clearwater Beach, Clearwater
White sandy beaches and clear water? Clearwater Beach is a great option for you. There are several other nearby beaches you can visit as well, including St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island.
Activities: Enjoy sunset celebrations at Pier 60, go dolphin watching or parasailing, and unwind with a beachfront massage.
Nearest Airport: Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Siesta Key Beach, Sarasota
Siesta Key sits at the top of the list for beautiful beaches. One visit and you will see why. Gorgeous sand and aqua waters greet you as you walk onto the beach.
Activities: Relax on powdery sands, try paddleboarding or kayaking, and explore nearby scenic nature trails.
Nearest Airport: Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
Marco Island Beach, Marco Island
Marco Island as well as the nearby islands and beaches makes this a great pick for a beach vacation in March. South, so it is warm.
Water temps are still a bit chilly at lower 70s, but still warm enough to swim in for those that live where it snows.
Activities: Sunbathe by the water’s edge, go shelling, and enjoy a sunset cruise or eco-tour.
Nearest Airport: Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
Key West Beaches
The list of fun things to do in Key West as well as the Florida Keys in general is LONG. Really something for every one.
Water temps here are also in the low 70s, but the highs for the day are generally close to 80 degrees.
Activities: Absolutely make time to take the ferry and snorkel at Dry Tortugas National Park, enjoy the sunset at Mallory Square, and tour the historic Key West attractions.
In my last visit we enjoyed quite a few activities over the week and there are still so many I want to enjoy.
Nearest Airport: Key West International Airport (EYW)
St. Pete Beach
You may remember I mentioned St Pete Beach above, and here it is on the top list of Florida beaches to visit in March. Like Clearwater, the beach and Gulf are beautiful all year long. In March, temps hover around 80.
The best times to visit St. Pete Beach? Locals say March through May. Not as crowded as other times of the year.
Activities: Explore the Dali Museum, walk along the shore and scenic waterfront, and take a dolphin-watching sunset cruise.
Nearest Airport: Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Vero Beach
Vero Beach, waits for you on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Sunshine State. One of the first beaches I enjoyed taking a weekend getaway from many years ago.
A beautiful beach as well as having plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy makes Vero Beach a wonderful coastal pick for a getaway in March.
Very friendly and welcoming beach town which invites you to explore its natural beauty and have fun trying new water sports and adventures.
Activities: Engage in watersports like paddleboarding or kayaking, visit the Environmental Learning Center, and explore the McKee Botanical Garden.
Nearest Airport: Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB)
Hollywood Beach, Hollywood
Also mentioned above with Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hollywood Beach stands on its own. It is also one of my top 10 beaches in the Sunshine State.
Activities: Bike along the beachfront broadwalk, try stand-up paddleboarding, and visit the nearby ArtsPark at Young Circle. I used to get my daughters from school with their swimsuits packed.
We would go directly to Hollywood Beach to enjoy the afternoon on the sand. Nearby on the Broadwalk are several great restaurants and bars that overlook the beautiful the Atlantic Ocean.
Nearest Airport: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
Cocoa Beach
I have honestly visited Cocoa Beach several times, but still have not seen everything this beach town has to offer. I have visited Kennedy Space Center but need to go back there also.
This is a fun beach town. Want to learn to surf? Do it here. Need gear for the beach? Stop at Ron Jon’s. Dinner? Plenty of options.
Activities: Surf the waves, visit the Kennedy Space Center, and explore the iconic Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Nearest Airport: Orlando International Airport (MCO)
There are more I can recommend, but these are the top picks for both sides of the state. Choose the Gulf or Atlantic – whichever you prefer. I’ll be honest, I do tend to lean toward the Gulf Coast, but the Atlantic Ocean side is also gorgeous.
There you have it! Warm Florida beaches are waiting for your visit in March. Lay in the sun, enjoy new waters sports as well as the coastal charm unique to each beach town.
