Destin

Destin is located on the Emerald Coast of Florida, in the northwest part of the state. It is easily accessible by car, with major highways connecting it to nearby cities such as Pensacola and Tallahassee.

The closest airport is Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, which is about an hour’s drive from Destin.

Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach is my favorite. It is also located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, but further east than Destin.

It is easily accessible by car, with major highways connecting it to nearby cities such as Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

The closest airport is Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, which is about a 20-minute drive from Panama City Beach.

Destin is known for its stunning white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The sand is made up of pure Appalachian quartz, giving it a bright white color and making it soft and powdery to walk on.

The water is also incredibly clear, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and other water activities.

Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach is known for its lively nightlife scene, with plenty of bars and clubs to choose from. There were others, but Hurricane Michael wiped out both Spinnaker Beach Club and Club La Vela.

• Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge: This popular bar, located at Pier Park, offers live music and a fun atmosphere. My understanding is that it will be moving to the old Spinnaker Beach Club location.

• Patches Pub & Grill is the last one I want to mention. Patches is one of the best dive bars I have ever visited. Music, great food, nice folks makes this a fun stop.

Honestly, you cannot go wrong whichever beach town you pick. Even better? It’s a very short drive between these two beach towns.
